Our Fabric and Hand Block Printing

All our hand block printed products are printed in India using traditional hand block printing technique. All products are printed on superior grade combed cotton ensuring that these pieces of art provide the much deserved luxury and comfort to your bedrooms and living spaces. Hand block printing process is one of the slowest printing processes steeped in tradition and history. Firstly skilled artisans carve out intricate designs on to wooden blocks. These wooden blocks are then pressed in special dyes and stamped on to the fabric over and over to create the design. Each colour in the design must be applied with a different block. So you can imagine that each piece of bedsheet would have been stamped for 2000-5000 times depending on the number of colours used. Given the insane number of times each piece of fabric is stamped and the pin point accuracy needed when a design consists of two or more colours, imperfections and smudges are common and are pleasing hints that the fabrics are made entirely by hand. The mark of the artisan is left in the variations from piece to piece which is one of the most endearing qualities of hand block printed fabric.
